Brilliant Boniface helps Leverkusen bounce back

Prolific Zambian striker leads the line as Die Werkself end winless run

Bayer Leverkusen returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga on Sunday, with Zambian striker Patson Daka scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The win ended a run of three games without a win for Leverkusen, and moved them up to ninth in the table.

Daka, who joined Leverkusen from Salzburg in the summer, has now scored three goals in his last four appearances for the club.

He was a constant threat to the Gladbach defence throughout the game, and his goal came in the 62nd minute.

The Zambian international latched onto a pass from Moussa Diaby and coolly slotted the ball past Yann Sommer in the Gladbach goal.

Leverkusen held on for the win, and they will now be hoping to build on this result when they face RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.

Gladbach, meanwhile, remain in fifth place in the table, and they will be looking to bounce back when they face Union Berlin next weekend.
